Kyle Monangai's Speed & Vision Are More Than Just a 40-Time

Rutgers' workhorse didn't light up the Combine, but the tape tells a different story.

Kyle Monangai didn’t post eye-popping numbers at the NFL Combine, and for some, that’ll be enough to exclude him from the conversation moving forward. But if you’re looking beyond the stopwatch, Monangai’s film tells a different story - one of power, patience, and burst that make him one of the most underrated backs in this class.

Plenty of great backs ran a 4.60 40-yard dash, including Le’Veon Bell, who built his game on vision and tempo. Monangai has a similar ability to press the line, slide to a crease, and explode through it.

Here’s a clip from Rutgers vs. Illinois, where he shows exactly that - working the edge against a tough Illini front, setting up his blocks, and turning the corner with impressive burst and downfield weave.
